In the September/October issue of Weight Watchers magazine Jennifer gives an update on her weight loss success, and her increasingly busy lifestyle. She also talks about her new fight against hunger.
SPOTLIGHT ON SUCCESS * JENNIFER HUDSON * HER JOURNEY, HER WORDS*
With Her fame in full, tilt, the actress/singer/mom talks about spotlight-and her new body.
Dateline: Fall 2010 – From splashing into Cannes in the spring, to filming Winnie (the biopic based on the life of Winnie Mandela) over the summer in South Africa, to rocking an international album tour, this has been the Year of Jennifer. Images of her glowing and newly trim shape have left even longtime fans in awe, but most inspiring: In a year filled with the challenges of career, travel, and being a first-time mom, JHud has used her passion for the Program to stay grounded and on track when it comes to her weight-loss goals.
A HEALTHY ENTOURAGE
One of the biggest secrets to Hudson’s success has been an unexpected support network. After Jennifer started the Program earlier in the year, her sister, a cousin, and other family members and friends got on board. Having the whole family involved has kept Hudson fired up about losing. ”A lot of my relatives have now joined the Program-they feel inspired by my success,” she says. The result? Hudson family events exude a strong WW vibe: ”Every time we get together, we’re talking about POINTS-it almost feels like a meeting!: she laughs.
A NEW POV ON FITNESS
As the pounds come off, Jennifer is turning to fitness to tone her arms, legs, and abs-results that are clearly visible to anyone who has seen recent shots of the star’s enviable biceps and her long, lean frame. Her golden rule? To break a sweat every day. After giving birth to son David, Jennifer started walking regularly. Fast forward to Davids’s first birthday and the star now tackles an intense 5-day-a-week, 25-minute cardio regimen. ”It’s not a huge time commitment, but the results are real,” she says.
A GLOBAL MEMBERSHIP
Having been on the road most of this year, Hudson has mastered the art of living abroad on WW, an especially tough prospect in France. ”I would order fish thinking it would be healthy, but then it would arrive covered in cream sauce, ” she says. While the challenges were daunting, it’s how Hudson surmounted them that’s motivating: “If i couldn’t calculate the POINTS, I’d scrape the sauce off and just have a small portion of fish and maybe a piece of bread and some vegetables,” she says. Convinced that the scale would show a gain, Hudson was shocked when she actually lost weight after her week in France. ”I had already incorporated the Program into my life so much I didn’t even realize it. That was a huge moment for me-I was so proud when I realized that not only can I do this, but I am doing it!”
LOSE FOR GOOD!
Hudson speaks up about Weight Watchers annual charitable campain, Lose for Good:
“Kids in our own country and abroad are in need of food right now, and we need to do something about it. As a mom, knowing that kids are going hungry breaks my heart. That’s why I’m so happy to be involved in this campaign. You can lose weight while helping families that are in need-that’s success!”
